Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” May (Sladen) Milligan
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Dorothy Milligan, age 89, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at her home.
Private funeral arrangements have been made by the family.
Family members include the late: William Milligan, Jr. (husband of 63 years), David (Son) and Eleanor Milligan, George (brother) and Muriel Sladen.
Surviving family members include: Scott and Joy (granddaughter) Martel of Shapleigh, ME and Brian and Cindy (granddaughter) Phinney of Waterboro, ME, great-grandchildren include Scott Martel Jr., Craig Martel, Ryan Phinney, Matthew Phinney, and Elyssa Phinney plus several nieces and nephews.
William and Anita Zimmerman and family welcomed Dottie into their close-knit family upon the loss of William and David Milligan in 2001 and 2005 respectively.
Dottie was born on September 15, 1921 in Sanford, Maine to the parents of Ervin and Mary (Savageau) Sladen. Dottie loved life to the fullest which included relocating and traveling to many countries with her late husband in service to our country, along with dancing and socializing.
Dottie was co-owner of Miss Carolyn’s with William Zimmerman until 2005 where she enjoyed socializing and dancing with friends and patrons.
She was an active member of the Commanders Club division of Disabled American Veterans and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter #1010, Augusta, GA (NARFE).
The family thanks Nancy Newcomb, Terry Hilton and Trinity Hospice for the special care given to their dear “Dottie” during her final days.
