Augusta, GA - Entered into rest Tuesday, August 4th, 2015. Mrs. Dorothy Hardin Coleman, 82, wife of Mr. James Claiborne Coleman, Jr. for 62 years.

Dorothy was an Augusta native, the daughter of Superior Court Judge John Franklin Hardin, Jr. and Nell Sanford Hardin. She graduated from Monte Sano Elementary School and Tubman High School and attended Agnes Scott College. She was an active, lifelong member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, serving on the Vestry and Altar Guild, volunteering with the Tuesday’s Music Live concert and luncheon series, and working diligently on the creation of the Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries,. Dorothy was a member of Augusta’s Suburban Garden Club and the Junior League. She was also President of the Augusta Symphony Guild.

Family members in addition to her husband include sister, Anne Hardin Forrester; daughters, Anne Coleman Wilson (Robert), Laura Turner Coleman, and Julia Coleman Vagovic (Peter); and sons, John Hardin Coleman (Nancy) and James Claiborne Coleman III (Ivey). Dorothy’s beloved grandchildren are: John Hardin Coleman, Jr., Dorothy Jewell Coleman, John Claiborne Wilson, and Susan Elizabeth Coleman.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the churchyard.
