Miss Dorothy Johnson

Augusta, GA- Miss Dorothy Johnson, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 27, after a brief illness at University Hospital. Miss Johnson was born in Warren Co. and resided in Augusta. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon. Miss Johnson was a faithful member of Lakeview Assembly of God where she played piano for many years. She was known for her quiet, gentle spirit and faithful giving heart. She will greatly be missed by her friends and loved ones.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to all of the staff and friends at Augusta Gardens Assisted Living for the 11 years that Miss Johnson resided there. She held the record for having lived at the facility the longest period of time.

Family members include: brother: J.B. Johnson (Judy) of Warrenton, GA; nieces: Elaine Eye of Hurst, Texas; Brenda Gustafson (Paul) of Martinez, GA; Debbie Hall (Jim) of Columbus, GA and Leslie Steele (Ralph) of Columbus, GA. nephews: Mark Stone, Edwin Stone, Jr. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Hadden Johnson and father, Thomas Louie Johnson, and also, two sisters: Frances Hargrove and Edith Stone.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son on Davis Road with Rev. Charlie Benson and Rev. Dan Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Methodist Church Cemetery in Warrenton, GA.
