Augusta – Entered into rest on Friday, April 15, 2015 at Doctors Hospital, Mrs. Dorothy Lillian Clarkson, age 95, wife of the late John George “Jack” Clarkson, Jr. and daughter of the late George and Rosa Gunther.
Other family members include her daughter: Kathleen Hunter (David); sisters: the late Ruth Bonaguer and the late Margaret McIver; grandchildren: Michael David Hunter (Barbra), Bryan John Hunter, Allison Kathleen Buchanan (Jimmy), Kevin Russell Hunter, Katie Beth Jennings (Will), David Bryan Hunter, Jr.; great grandchildren: John David Hunter, William Blakely Hunter, Clarkson Bayly Hunter, Ellis Laine Hunter and Lillian Annette Hunter, Louisa Catherine Hunter, Hunter James Buchanan, Hayes Henry Jennings, Lee Marshall Baldwin Jennings, Parker Highsmith Davis, Lawson Bryant Davis, Harrison Tyler Davis and Eason Elizabeth Davis ; brothers in law: Gene Bonaguer and Ted Lau.
Mrs. Clarkson was born in Pittsburg, PA. She was a loving house wife, mother, grandmother and a real estate agent. She spent 32 years living in Savannah where she was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church and the service choir. She moved to Augusta 16 years ago to be with her daughter and family. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She enjoyed playing Bridge and the company of her pet dog Sugar and cats Carris , (Putzy Cat), Atara.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Entombment will be at Hillcrest Abbey Mausoleum in Savannah, GA on Saturday.
