Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, September 02, 2016, Mrs. Dorothy Mae (Johnson) James, age 82.

Mrs. James was born in1934 in Appling, GA, she was the daughter of the late Durham T. and Nellie P. Robinson. She was a resident of Augusta for many years. Mrs. James worked as a crossing guard for Richmond County Sheriff’s Department. She was a former member of Pierce Memorial Methodist Church and Barton Chapel Methodist Church. Mrs. James was a very strong willed woman having survived breast cancer for over 25 years. She was a great cook and loved cooking Sunday dinner for her family.

She leaves behind her children: Michael E. Johnson and James F. Johnson, Jr (Sandi); her grandchildren: Danny Johnson, Jimmy Johnson (Courtney), Robbie Johnson; her brother: Paul Robinson; her sisters: Shirley Chavous and Wilma Lynn. Mrs. James is preceded in death by the father of her children: James F. Johnson and her son: Robert Lynn Johnson.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Dwayne French officiating. Entombment will follow in Bellevue Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Wendall Johnson, Rick Johnson, Lynn Skinner, Carl Lynn, Gerald Robinson and Rick Chavous.
