Dorothy Reagan Griffin McBride
Martinez, GA – Dorothy Reagan Griffin McBride, 91, entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, April 26, 2012. She was born on September 24, 1920 in Jefferson County, GA to the late Norman L. Sr. and Emmie Cooper Reagan. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years and father of her children, Sidney W. Griffin and by her second husband of 14 years, Maynard McBride. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert L. Reagan and Norman L. Reagan, Jr., and her great granddaughter, Haley Baer.
Survivors include: her daughter: Henrietta G. Holmes and husband, the late William R. Holmes and five sons: J. Paul Griffin (Jan), Daniel W. Griffin, Ronald R. Griffin (Sharon), James A. “Jim” Griffin (Becky) and David A. Griffin “Bo”. She is also survived by her adopted daughter: Norma Skinner (Edward). Survivors also include eight granddaughters: Pam H. Simpson (Scott), Rhonda Heath (Wayne), Paula Hain, Deborah Steele (David) Denise Coleman (Wilder), Tara Holmes, Brandy Beatrice (Kevin) and Stephanie Baer; one adopted granddaughter; ten grandsons: Will Holmes (Liz), Danny Griffin, Scott Griffin, Dana Griffin, Anthony Griffin, Todd Holmes, Brian Griffin, Jason Griffin (Lindsey), Christopher Griffin and Walker Griffin; twenty four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; her sisters: Mary Ellen Morgan and Carolyn R. Dixon.
She was a 1938 graduate of Girard, GA High School and retired from Murray Biscuit Company. She loved to dance, especially the “Charleston”. She was a Christian Lady and Charter member of Miracle Baptist Church, a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend to many. They will all miss her beautiful smile and caring ways.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westwood Nursing Home and Doctors Hospital for the excellent care given to their loved one.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Marion Jay and Rev. John Raborn officiating.
