Aiken, SC- Dr. Douglas Buck, age 80 of Aiken SC, son of the late Joseph L. and the late Vera G Buck passed away on October 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his brothers Louis Buck (Dayton, OH) and Larry Buck (Placentia, CA), his sister Marcia Hobbs (Portland, OR) and granddaughter Brandi S. Buck (Dayton, OH). He is survived by his children Melissa and Erin Buck (Victor V. Patrick-deceased) of Dayton, Ohio and Eric Buck (Deidre) of Houston, Texas, 2 granddaughters Arianna and Lyric Buck, and 4 great grandchildren Jebrae’ Treadwell, Joshua and Jariyah Hayes (Brandi B) and Meilani Williams (Lyric B).

Dr. Buck was born in Dayton, Ohio where his ashes will be interned at the Woodland Cemetery at the Lookout Columbarium Historic Tower located on the highest hill overlooking the City of Dayton. He was a U.S. Army Viet Nam Era veteran. Dr. Buck earned degrees from Wright State University, the American University and Nova Southeastern University and served in senior level HR positions for over 30 years retiring as an associate vice president for Human Resources for Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition, Dr. Buck taught graduate courses in business and public administration for a number of universities during his career as an adjunct professor. He also served as a fact finder, mediator and arbitrator for the State Employment Relations Board in Ohio, hearing and attempting to resolve labor relations contract negotiation impasses for a number of years.

Dr. Buck enjoyed all sports and was a 3-sport lettered athlete in high school. In later life he was an avid golfer, taking up the game in his 40s and able to achieve a low teen handicap playing several days during the week until his death. 

The cremation will occur in Augusta, GA and his remains will be carried to Dayton, Ohio for their interment in a niche in the Lookout Columbarium Historic Tower at Woodland Cemetery. There will be a small service for his family at the cemetery prior to the interment.
