Dr. Alfred Hirshoren

Evans, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, January 6, 2011, Dr. Alfred Hirshoren, 79, husband of Sheila Hirshoren of Evans,GA.
Dr. Hirshoren was a native of Elizabeth, NJ. He was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Augusta. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Hirshoren attended Julliard and was a symphonic musician in the Birmingham and Tulsa Symphonic Orchestras. In later years he was an avid collector and dealer of 20th century American Art.
Dr. Hirshoren was a graduate of the University of Illinois, received a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois. Dr. Hirshoren was a noted researcher and expert in the education of exceptional children. A pioneering researcher in the study of cognitive style, learning disabilities, modalities, processes and methods of improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughter: Amy Green (Troy) of Evans; son, Greg Hirshoren (Dr. Christine Egger) of Knoxville, TN; and two grandchildren: Ryan and Erin Green of Evans.
Honoring Dr. Hirshoren’s request, no services will be held.
