Dr. Jeffrey R. Lee

Jeffrey Roberts Lee, 75, entered into glory on January 27, 2025. He had suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for close to 10 years. After a long and brave fight, he has now entered into the promised rest of His Savior, Jesus. His struggle with this cruel disease is over; his joy and peace has just begun.

Jeff was a loving and faithful husband to his wife Lesia for 46 years, a devoted and joyful Father to his children Kristen and Josh, a welcoming and generous Father-in-Law to Nathan, and a proud and playful grandfather to his three boys, Lucas, Noah and Silas. Jeff was a brilliant and accomplished physician and researcher, but the thing his family will remember about him most is not his lengthy C.V., but his unwavering love and interest in those closest to him. He loved his family passionately and embarrassingly. His hugs and “I love yous” and “I’m proud of yous” were endless. Not a single one of them was done out of routine or obligation…every single one was uniquely authentic. When his daughter and son-in-law moved to Peru, he embraced Peru and its culture as if it was his home country. When his son attended seminary, he dived into theology and church history with a passion. He longed to love what his loved ones loved. And to love them most of all. And he accomplished it so well.

His greatest legacy though, was sharing with them what he loved most: His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jeff showed his family what it meant to love Jesus. Between the early morning blessings he spoke over them every day, his quickness to ask for forgiveness and to give it, and his lavish generosity and mercy to those in need, he taught us all what it meant to live out the gospel in word and deed. And today he is able to say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

The family would like to express their deep admiration and gratitude for the management and staff at Thrive at Augusta and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice. They cared for Jeff through some extremely difficult days but never failed to treat him with dignity and love. If Jeff was well enough to express it, he would have told them often how thankful he was for their compassion.

The memorial service will be Friday, January 31, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors (214 Davis Rd. Augusta, GA 30907) and will be officiated by the Reverend Jim Knight. Internment will be private.
