Thomas Lonergan Saul, Jr. DDS

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Thomas Lonergan Saul, Jr. DDS, 69, entered into rest Monday, November 30, 2009. The husband of Suzanne Kalkhurst Saul, Dr. Saul was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. He is the son of Mary Saul and the late Thomas L. Saul, Sr. He was a 1958 graduate of Boys Catholic High. Dr. Saul attended Loyola University in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in 1964. He entered the U.S. Army as a captain in Ft. Jackson, SC and returned to Augusta in 1968 to begin private practice until his retirement in 2008. Dr. Saul was a member of the GDA, ADA, and Eastern District Dental Association. He was a member of St. Mary-on-the-Hill Catholic Church. He was on the St. Mary Parish Council, past president of the Parish Council, board member of Interfaith Hospitality Network, and a member of ACC and AGA. Dr. Saul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf with his family and friends. He has joined his prized hunting dog, the late Elhew Kate, in fields of endless covey rises.
Family members, in addition to his loving wife of 46 years, include: his daughter, Suzanne Saul Rousseau (Robert T. Rousseau DMD) of Atlanta; sons, Thomas L. Saul III (Autumn) of Augusta, Michael Travis Saul (Courtney) of Augusta, Patrick Spalding Saul of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Robert and Lauren Rousseau, Thomas, Christopher and Ben Saul, and Sancken Hatch; his mother, Mary Saul; sisters: Peggy Moore(Jim) of Marietta, Betty Ann Sanders (Larry) of Dalton, Martha Davenport ( the late Mel) of Spartanburg; and brother: Bobby Saul (Ann) of Augusta.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00 in Westover Memorial Park with Fr. Mark Van Alstine officiating.
Pallbearers will be Harold Ray, Dr. Steve Fennell, Dr, Patrick Sheehan, Dr. Tom Cefalu, Don Grantham, Forest Hensley, Joe Sheehan, Mont Miller, Clark Rushton, James Paul Rushton, and Dr. S.E. Ellender. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Golf Association.
