Augusta, GA – Surrounded by his loving family, Mr. Duke William Satcher, 86, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, husband of the late Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Satcher.
Mr. Satcher, born in Hephzibah, GA, enlisted in the US Coast Guard on April 16, 1943 and served in WWII on a sub chaser as a gunners mate and shore patrol on horseback. Retired from the industrial supply industry he was a role model for his children and grandson, sharing his love of horses, camping, boating, hunting and golf.
Surviving family members include children: Dottie (John) Bromley of St. Simons, Moriah (Steve) Smith of Warrenton, Deryl (Barry) West of Warrenton; grandson: Wesley Satcher; great-grandchildren: Tristan, Ethan, Jared, and Luke Satcher, Emily Williamson; and his special friend, Sophie.
A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends following the service.
