Augusta, GA – Earl Rhodes, 84, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, Feb. 14th at 3 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Gale Siebert presiding, at the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Sons. Burial will be private.

Earl was born on September 26, 1931 at his home in Hephzibah, GA. He was the son of Oscar (Buster) and Carrie Bell Rhodes. Earl was a graduate of Hephzibah School, attended Jr. College of Augusta, then joined the United States Air Force.

Earl was a proud co-owner of Augusta Office Products, Inc. at 1033 Broad St. for many years. His partners and dear friends were Sammie Wilhite and W. L. Whaley. Earl was a member of the Hephzibah United Methodist Church. He was a 30 year member of the Summerville Augusta Exchange Club where he met and enjoyed many friends. He is also a Honorary Member of the Hen Peck Club of Hephzibah. Earl truly enjoyed life; especially when he was able to fish, hunt, and cook with friends. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, and was delighted to enjoy many years at the Masters Tournament.

He is survived by his son, Mike (Brooke) Rhodes and daughter, Martha (Julian) Allen, both of Hephzibah. Grandchildren Michelle (Marc) Chancey, Lauren Rhodes, and Patricia Rhodes. Great Grandchildren Morgan Chancey, Marc Owen Chancey, and Colt Allen. Earl’s extended family includes, Linda Rhodes, Augusta and his step-son, Michael (Kaye) Robinson of Thomaston. Brothers include Oscar (Billie Ann) Rhodes and Emmett (Pop) Rhodes, both of Hephzibah. Sisters include Dorothy Oellerich, Augusta and Louise Pettigrew, of Hephzibah.

Pallbearers will be his nephews Robert Oellerich, Walter Oellerich, Richard Pettigrew, Emmett Rhodes, Steve Rhodes, and Grandson-in -law Marc Chancey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob McElmurray, Honey Cook, Dave Myers, Brian Knutson, Melvin Roberts, W. L. Whaley, and Sammie Wilhite.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hephzibah United Methodist Church, PO Box 65, Hephzibah, GA 30815.

The family will receive friends at Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, February 13th from 5 - 7pm.
