Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, March 5, 2022, Mr. Edward L. Howerton, 69, loving husband to Vicki Jackson Howerton.
Edward was born September 29, 1952 in Bremerhaven, Germany and moved to Augusta, GA at the age of two. He graduated from George P. Butler High School in 1970 and was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Germany from 1972 until 1974. Edward retired after 37 years from the Richmond Country Recreation Department in 2013. He moved to McCormick, SC where he resided in Savannah Lakes. He was an avid golfer and was a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Braves.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his son: Neil Howerton (Haley); daughter: Ashlyn Howerton; grandchildren: Kirby Ann Howerton and Phil Howerton; brother: Bruce Howerton (Barbara); sister: Diane Kandler (Ted); and countless nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Ted Kandler and Rev. Lloyd C. Greene officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lariscy, Cliff Forester, Tom Beck, Charles O’Byrne, Ryan Miller, Carl Smith, and Rob Kiser.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
