Edgar Rudolph Poston
Ed “Buddy” Poston passed away July 13, 2021, with his family by his side.
He was born May 3, 1936, in Peedee, SC to William Coy and Elizabeth Turner Poston. After graduating from North Charleston High School, he proudly served in the US Air Force from 1956 - 1961.
He and his wife of 58 years, Marylin Alderman Poston, made their home in North Augusta, SC where they raised their family.
He was the owner of Ed’s Auto Center and in retirement, he continued working at Kroger in North Augusta. He finally retired in 2011. He was also involved in local civic organizations; SC Automotive Service Association, where he served as President in 1991-1995 and NA Lions Club, where he served as President in 1995-1996. He served as the Warden at Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, in North Augusta, SC, where he was instrumental in building and renovating the church when it relocated to its current location.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Edgar “Eddie” Poston, and his brother, Bennie Allen Poston.
He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Kareen “Lynne” (Michael) Riley, Jeanette Alderman Gilles; sons, Charles (Angela) Poston and Johnny (Suzette) Eldred; his grandchildren, Corey Poston, Austin (Shelby) Poston, Alexander Gilles, Anthony Gilles, Aiden Gilles, Serenity “Reni” Poston-Hymel, Trenton (Sarah) Austin, and Drue Eldred; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hyatt; sisters, Betty Black, and Lou Ann Summers; brothers, Bob (Sue) Poston and Johnnie (Nettie) Poston; as well as many nieces and nephews, in-laws and cousins.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 pm on July 31, 2021, at The Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, in North Augusta, SC. The funeral service will be held, at 3:00 pm with Rev. Ross Guthrie and Rob Hartley officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity, 160 Merovan Drive, Sweetwater Business Center, North Augusta, SC 29860.
The family asks that you wear a colorful or Hawaiian-style shirt to the service as Ed was very fond of his Hawaiian shirts.
