Edith Perry
Augusta, Ga-Entered into rest on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Kentwood, Mrs. Edith M. Perry, wife of the late Edgar Leslie Perry, Sr. who died in 1966.
Surviving family members include her only son: Edgar Leslie Perry, Jr. and wife Wondal of Augusta Ga. Grandsons: Edgar Leslie Perry, III (Les) and wife Dee Dee, William Heath Perry (Heath)and wife Erica. Six great grandchildren: Ellie, Lee, Will, Davis, Nan and Spence. Sisters: Coleen Cockrell, Ruby Kerr, and Ruth Lackey of Hiddenite N.C., and a special sister in law, Louise Perry of Columbia SC. She was predeceased by three loving sisters and a daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Perry was born July 18, 1920 in Hiddenite N.C., the second child to Glover and Fannie Mayberry. She graduated in 1937 from Hiddenite High School and moved to Charlotte N.C. where she found her husband of 22 years. They moved to Columbia in 1945 where she was a member of Bayview Baptist Church, until moving to Augusta in 2011 to be close to family. She was a demonstrator in Supermarkets for Pepsi Cola for over 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edith loved working in her yard, helping others and cooking for her friends and family.
The family request in lieu of flowers, that memorials be sent to the Gail Heath Perry Endowment, c/o UHCF 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D-1, Augusta, GA 30904.Gail was the daughter in law of Mrs. Perry who died in 2007 of Breast Cancer.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at the grave in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia S.C. with Rev. David Bentley, of Bayview Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
