Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, July 7, 2011, Mr. Edward Crawford Luke, Sr., 86, husband of Betty P. Luke.
Mr. Luke, a lifelong resident of Augusta, was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. He was the first republican state representative from Richmond County. He served in Word War II and was co-owner of Alrich Electrical Contractors until retirement. He was a long-time member of Westlake Country Club, loved to play golf, and enjoyed traveling.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Kathryn Morrison of Augusta, Edith Mynatt (Michael) of Roswell, GA; son, Edward Luke, Jr. (Darlene) of Marietta, GA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents: Robert and Blanche Luke; his first wife, Dorothy M. Luke; his second wife, Barbara P. Luke; and great-granddaughter, Brecken Jones.
The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for their excellent care and especially Ashanti Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
