Augusta, GA – Edward G. Ferrang 71, resident of Grovetown, passed away on Friday, March 25. Loving husband of Carole Russell Ferrang, father of Jessica Ferrang and Ashley Rosier and grandfather of four. He also is survived by his father Joseph Ferrang of Green Valley, AZ., brother Joseph Ferrang Jr. (Marion) of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Elaine Lewis (Kevin) of Green Valley, AZ., niece Lois Lewis of Chandler, AZ, close friends Gloria and Angela Allen, Arleta Allen-Bryant, Shedricka Holloway and Marcus Pollard, as well as uncles, aunts, numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ferrang and was born in Pittsburgh, PA November 8, 1950.

He was a graduate of Edinboro University, Edinboro, PA with a B.S. in Education and received a Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh, continuing education at the University of South Carolina and Keller Graduate School of Business. He was a graduate of South Hills Catholic H.S. Pittsburgh, PA. Academic memberships included MU Kappa Gamma music fraternity, Alpha Beta Alpha library science honorary society and Kappa Delta Pi honorary education society.

Ed was employed by Lebanon County H.S, Myerstown, PA, Hilltop Catholic HS, Pittsburgh, PA as a teacher; Newbury College, SC as the A.V. coordinator, University of New Mexico in Gallup, NM as an assistant professor and library director. He was also employed by Prentice-Hall, Phoenix, AZ as a territory manager; City of Tolleson, AZ as the Community Service Director; East Georgia Regional Library, Augusta, GA as Extension Director and book acquisition; Barton Chapel Elementary, Augusta, GA as a media services librarian and was the Owner/Director of Oxford Learning Center, Evans GA.

Ed was in the history club at Edinboro University and was the entertainment director for their radio station. He enjoyed baseball, softball and basketball and officiated high school games in several states. He also liked swimming and other sports and was a lifeguard for a number of years. Ed enjoyed singing in several church choirs and glee clubs. He also enjoyed traveling, hot air balloons, sky diving and wind surfing and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees in Myerstown, PA; Publicity Director for Whoopee Days in Tolleson, AZ; served as the secretary of the Tybrisa Beach Resort, Tybee Island, GA for eleven years; served on the parish council for St. Mary on the Hill, Augusta, GA; and was a member of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and Exchange Club, Columbia County, GA.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grovetown on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 P.M. with a Rosary at 12:30 P.M. at the church. Entombment will follow Mass at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
