Edward Reynolds Wylds
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, May 03, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness, Edward R. Wylds, 73.
Mr. Wylds was retired as owner of Wylds Independent Service Station and Wylds Rentals. He was a livelong resident of Richmond County. He attended the Academy of Richmond County where he graduated with honors in military science and tactics as a Lieutenant, and the Junior College of Augusta. As an officer in the Corp of Cadets he was a member of the Sabre Club and a letterman on the ARC rifle team. Edward’s interests and hobbies included genealogy and antique weapons, especially Confederate pieces and Indian artifacts. He travelled throughout the southeast to gun shows and excavated in the Brier Creek area with the South Carolina and Georgia Archaeology Club. Mr. Wylds had a great love for nature and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the National Rifle Association. Edward’s memory will always be cherished by his family and friends because of his generosity, kindness and quick wit.
Family members include: sister: Susan Wylds Hardwick (B. McKinne) of Augusta, six nieces and a nephew: Mary Anthony Yarger, Sybil Ruth Ashley, Carolyn Gregory Boyle (James), Electa Clements Pantoja (Dwayne), Lola Wylds Kempema (Marvin), of Woodstock, Ga., Susan Reynolds Hardwick of Atlanta, Ga., and Barna McKinne Hardwick, Jr. Mr. Wylds is preceded in death by his parents the late Sybil Cook and Charles Gregory Wylds, nieces: Anna Belle Corley and Elizabeth R. Kelley, brother: Charles Anthony Wylds (Lola Clements, also deceased), and his sister: Sybil Wylds Smith (James Charles, also deceased).
His family wishes to thank the personnel at DaVita-Wylds Dialysis Center and their long term care givers; Ella Utley, Gina Webster and Charlet Staten for their care and kindness to Mr. Ed.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Magnolia Cemetery with The Rt. Rev. Robert Fain officiating. Pallbearers will be great nephews: Dan Williams, Curt Williams, Benjamin Ashley, David Ashley, Charles Corley, James Boyle, and Trevor Kempema. Mr. Wylds great nieces will serve as honorary pallbearers: Veronica Ashley, Cheryl Corley, Kim Trott, Heather Dixon, Regina Hand, Jennifer Speth, and Lauren Kempema.
