Elaine E. Williams

Martinez, GA - Elaine E. Williams (80) passed away peacefully in her home on June 27th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 18th, 1942, in Augusta, Georgia, Elaine embraced her youth alongside her parents, Robert W. Sr. and Myrtle Ellis and her cherished siblings, Barbara Ellis, Robert W. Ellis Jr., and Sandra Wikan. It was during her adolescence that fate intervened, as her mother, Myrtle, introduced her to a young bag boy named Earl Williams at the Winn-Dixie grocery store. From the moment they met, Elaine and Earl became inseparable, with their hearts intertwined. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 16, 2023, a testament to the enduring love they shared.

Elaine is survived by her husband Earl, her son, Ashley Williams (Melanie), and her daughter, Kelli Byrd (Mike). She is also survived by three granddaughters, Haylie James (Christopher), Ashlyn Williams, and Courtney Custer (T.J.). Along with three grandchildren, Elaine is survived by three great-grandchildren, Lee Custer, Logan Custer, and great granddaughter to be Ellis Leigh James.

Her friendships were lifelong treasures. Elaine shared an unbreakable bond with her best friends, Johnny and Brenda McLeod, who were there through every twist and turn. Moreover, she found solace and belonging with her adopted family, Kelly, and Heloise Salter, as well as their children, Justin and Lauren.

Elaine's professional journey led her to a rewarding banking career, retiring from First Union in 1992. A strong-willed woman with a boundless and giving heart, she approached life with generosity, love, and kindness. A true go-getter, Elaine fearlessly pursued her goals, achieving whatever she set her mind to. In her later years, she found immense joy working alongside Brenda at their co-owned business, Better than New Estate Sales. Her creative talents shone through her passion for monogramming, a cherished gift she shared with her beloved family and friends, who brought her the greatest happiness of all. Those fortunate enough to have known Elaine will forever remember the depth of her love, compassion, and affection for her friends and family. Her affection was genuine, evident to all who crossed her path. As she gracefully approached the end of her journey, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and an unwavering love for those who preceded her. The void left by her absence will be deeply felt, and her memory will be cherished dearly by all who were touched by her remarkable presence. Elaine was a faithful member of West Acres Baptist Church where she had great joy serving in the nursery and greeting members and welcoming them with her husband Earl.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Southeast Hospice who comforted her and her family during her last days.
