Elizabeth W. Fidler
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at NHC in North Augusta, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Fidler, 91, wife of the late H.G. Fidler.
Mrs. Fidler was born in Mecklenburg County, N.C. She and Hugh were married in 1940 and lived many places including Charlotte, NC, East Point, GA, and Selma, AL. while his career with Buckeye Cellulose Corporation moved him many places. Mrs. Fidler was a member of St. John United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She participated in Bible Study and prayer groups and was a member of the Sells Bible Class. Mrs. Fidler volunteered much of her time to University Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital, Downtown Co-operative Church Ministries, and the soup kitchen. She was also a member of the Junior Women’s Club of Augusta. Mrs. Fidler loved playing the piano, working in her yard, walking daily on her treadmill, and working out at “Curves” several times a week. She loved playing golf as well as traveling inside and outside the United States. Mr. and Mrs. Fidler as a couple visited many places including Western Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and Canada. They also enjoyed many domestic travels and took along their grandchildren.
Family members include her sons: Fred Fidler and Frank Fidler; sisters: Mille Sloop, Alice Penninger, grandchildren: Shawn, Tara, and Brit Fidler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary DeMore officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be, Shawn Fidler, Scott Resseguie, Bobby Martin, Sam Tyson, Robert Coursey, Grady Smith, and Mark Maund. The family will receive friends at the church Friday morning, from 10:00 until the time of the service.
