Elizabeth “Liz” (Drysdale) Riordan
Evans, GA – Mrs. Elizabeth “Liz” (Drysdale) Riordan, 78 entered into rest on Friday, August 31, 2018.
Liz was born in Chester, New Jersey to Andrew Drysdale and Elizabeth (Mossman) Drysdale. Growing up on a farm in Chester, she loved to ride horses and became an avid equestrian. She attended The Gill School, a private girls’ school in Bernardsville, New Jersey and went on to Drew University in Madison, NJ to obtain her bachelor’s degree. Liz was an accomplished athlete playing field hockey, softball and basketball throughout her school career. Her passion later in life was tennis; she became an avid tennis player and played competitively for many years as a member of Fox Chase Racquet Club and Mendham Golf &
Tennis Club. Liz also loved the beach, paddle tennis, gardening, running and the New York Yankees.
Liz met her husband Jim while attending college and they were married in 1961. After a few years, they settled in New Jersey to raise their family. They retired to Aiken, South Carolina in 2004 to be closer to their grandchildren. Liz was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her four grandchildren.
Liz is survived by her sons and their wives: James R. Riordan, Jr. (Carol) of Martinez, GA and Jonathan Riordan (Penny) of Advance, NC; four grandchildren; her brother: Andrew Drysdale, Jr. of Chester, NJ; her sister Carol of Millsboro, DE; and her brother: Robert Drysdale (Sandy) of Chester, NJ.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Brandon Wilde. The caregivers at the Windsor House and The Arbor were a tremendous comfort to Liz and her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
