Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, October 1, 2023, Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Norvell Sherrill, 90, loving wife of the late William S. Sherrill, Jr.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Augusta and was a graduate of Tubman High School for Girls in 1950 and Huntingdon College in 1954. She grew up attending St. John United Methodist Church and later in her life became a member of Trinity on the Hill. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach with her family, and she visited all 50 states and several countries with her husband. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was affectionately known as “Mamie” by her grandchildren.

Family members include her son: William Sherrill III (Tricia); daughters: Lisa Futrelle (Jeff), Lela Sherrill, and Louise Garren (Joseph); grandchildren: Franklin Futrelle (Jessica) and Elizabeth Burke (Brad); and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Elizabeth Norvell, grandson, William Sherrill IV, daughter-in-law, Denise Anderson Sherrill, and brother, William K. Norvell.

The family would like to thank The Claiborne at West Lake staff, Caring from the Heart of Georgia caregivers, and Hospice Services of Georgia, especially Jessica, for their compassionate care.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M.  at Trinity on the Hill and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Roy McVeigh and Rev. Mark Maund officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walker Family Cemetery, c/o Russell Shearer, 626 Boeckh St., North Augusta, SC 29841.
