Elle Houck Giles

MARTINEZ, GA – Mrs. Elle Houck Giles, 77, entered into rest on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Piedmont Hospital of Augusta surrounded by family. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Westover Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. 

Born in Augusta, Elle was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and was Graduate of Richmond Academy. She and her family moved to Martinez in 1977. She worked in the family business, Augusta Sporting Goods, Co with her father and uncle and eventually purchased and ran the business until its close in 2003. Elle was a wonderful mother who spent most of her time and focus on her children and grandchildren. She always put her children and family first above herself. Her strength and resilience were unmatched, yet she was always kind and loving to those around her.

Elle is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Thomas Rabb Houck and Mrs. Elle Carswell Houck as well as her best friend and beach buddy Mrs. Carolyn L. Vernon. She is survived by three children, Ms. Murray Giles of Martinez, Ga, Mr. David Giles (Diann Giles) of Grovetown, Ga, and Mrs. Elizabeth Giles Thomas (Jason Thomas) of Appling, Ga; five grandchildren, Caleb Gay (Sarah), Lilly Giles, Harrison Giles, Delaney Gay and Jase Thomas; her sisters Camille Hardy (Joe Hardy) and Beth Ligon (Ronnie Ligon); sister in law Linda Giles and five nieces and nephews, Knox Hardy (Katie), Laura Mellon (Charles), Jennifer Ligon (Jason Sinkus), Allen Ligon (Ashley) and Emma Giles. She cherished them all. Elle is also survived by her constant companion of 4 years, her shitzu Gracie, who brought her much comfort and joy.
