Eloise B. Vidal

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, October 2, 2013, Mrs. Eloise Betty Vidal, 79, wife of the late Mac Manuel Vidal.

Eloise was the only daughter of Ruby and Harley Fisher. She was born in Monroe County, IN on September 29, 1934. She attended Howe High School in Indianapolis, IN and graduated with a full 4-year music scholarship to Indiana University.

Mrs. Vidal chose to be a mom and married her high school sweetheart, Mac Vidal. Uncle Sam moved them to Jackson, SC , Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX; Ft. Wainwright/Fairbanks, AK, and finally to Ft. Gordon.

She worked as a librarian at Ft. Bliss, a switchboard operator in Alaska, and also Thermal Ceramics in Augusta.

Mrs. Vidal was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice for singing. She could play the piano by ear and by sight reading. As a teenager, she sang solos on the square in Indianapolis at Christmas. In her later years she sang in church choirs, the Augusta Chorale Society, and the Columbia County Chorale Society. Numerous brides and grooms were blessed with her talent of singing while accompanying herself on piano or organ.

She was born a Methodist and comes from a rich heritage of Methodism. Her grandfather, Elmer Lucas, was a circuit rider for the local area Methodist Churches, as well as a teacher.

Two of her biggest thrills were singing in a Billy Graham choir and having a song published, “God is on the telephone”.

Having suffered a stroke, Eloise was well taken care of by her sons: James and Mike, and daughters: Linda and Corinne. She will be sorely missed on this earthly plane, but Heaven has added a mighty voice to its choir of hosts. We thank God for her time with us.

Family members include daughters: Linda Vidal Tucker, Corinne Barrett and husband Michael; and sons: James Vidal and Michael Vidal.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. John Kenney officiating.
