Emil John Kitlan (68) of Evans, GA, passed away Friday morning at Doctors Hospital (Augusta, GA) following a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, August 20, 1953, he was the son of Emil Kitlan and Margaret (Soltis) Kitlan and spent the past 21 years in Evans after moving from Hazleton, PA.
Emil was a 1971 graduate of MMI Preparatory School (Freeland, PA), received his Associate of Applied Science in Toolmaking Technology from Williamsport Area Community College in 1977, Associate of Mechanical Engineering Technology from Penn State’s Worthington Scranton campus in 1983, and a Bachelor of Science of Mechanical Design Engineering from Penn State’s Capitol campus in 1985. Emil was the Chief Mechanical Engineer at Motion Metalworks in Wrens, GA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emil Kitlan.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, the former Susan Ellen Swetz; two daughters Tayler Susan and her husband Charles Brock Norwood, Kelsey Frances and her husband Andrew Scott McNight; a granddaughter Lillian Emilia Norwood; his mother Margaret Kitlan; a sister Nancy D’Amico (Wilmington, DE).
His memorial service will be held Saturday, November 20th at 11am at Thomas Poteet and Son. Visitation will begin at 10am at the funeral home.
