Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Mrs. Emily Smith Capers, 92, wife of the late Anderson Clark Capers, Jr.

Emily lived most of her life in Augusta. GA teaching and mentoring nursing students for over 40 years. While at Augusta State University she was known for her high expectations of her students in direct patient care. She delighted in teaching her students to become the best nurses in our area.

Once retired, Emily enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her extended family. She held her nieces and nephews close to her heart.

Emily was blessed with a sweet, whimsical yet firm nature that carried her for 92 years of living. She had a profound love for her friends and family we will always be remembered.

Family members include a daughter: Mary Louise Hagler (Robert) and a son:
Anderson Clark Capers III (Barbara); four grandchildren: Marianna Rachel Hagler, Brandon Freitas Capers, Samuel Capers Hagler and Grayson
Adam Capers.

The funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. David Arnoldt celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will gather Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at the church for a decade of the Rosary and receive friends from 10:30 until the time of the service at St. Mary.

The family would like to thank the ladies at Young’s Personal Care Home for their love and care for Mrs.Capers.
