Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, March 4, 2010, Mrs. Emily Jones Kearns, 89, wife of the late Timothy J. Kearns.
Mrs. Kearns was a lifelong resident of Augusta where she retired after teaching 25 years at Aquinas High School. She was resident manager for Woodbine West Condominiums for 25 years. Mrs. Kearns was a member of The Church of Our Savior Episcopal on Columbia Road. Her family, especially her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren were most important to her.
Family members include her children: Timothy J. Kearns, II (Johanna) of CA, Helen K. Spoto (Sal) of FL, Rebecca K. Holtzclaw of Augusta, William A. Kearns (Martha) of Augusta; grandchildren: Brian T. Kearns (Lisa) of CA, Christopher D. Spoto (Michelle) of FL, Jennifer K. Shuford (Bill) of Augusta, William M. Kearns (Eve) of NC, Cynthia C. Kearns of CA, Sean P. Spoto (Cara) of FL, Phillip A. Kearns of Augusta, Nicholas J. Kearns of Savannah, Emily C. Holtzclaw of NC, Charles W. Holtzclaw of Augusta; great-grandchildren: Baden and Ben Kearns of CA, Jake and Luke Spoto of FL, Henry and Anna Bridget Shuford of Augusta; sisters-in-law: Sister Anna B. Kearns, Teresa C. Kearns, Martha B. Kearns, Loretta K. Burke (Jack), and Maureen Jones. Mrs. Kearns was preceded in death by her infant son: John W. Kearns; her parents: Mr. and Mrs. William M. Jones; brothers: William M. Jones, Jr. and Richard C. Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Our Savior Episcopal with Father Will Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Gardens.
