AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Sunday, May 17, 2009, at University Hospital, Mrs. Emma Louise McSwain, 76, wife of the late Thad R. McSwain, Jr.

Mrs. McSwain was a native of Blacksburg, SC and was a long time resident of Augusta. As a military wife she traveled extensively with her husband, including Germany, France and all over the United States.

Family members include her son: Robert K. McSwain of Clarkston, GA; daughters: Anita J. Hayman and husband Bob of Augusta, Vickie D. Passmore and husband Marty of Gainsville, GA, Patricia L. McSwain of Tucker, GA, Sharon A. Kelly and husband Darrell of Charlotte, NC; brothers: Richard James and Jeeter James; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Emma was a Christian and knew the Love of Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was a dedicated mother of 5, and a career military wife. She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband and the family is comforted she has joined him in Heaven.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Pat Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
