Mr. Emmett "Pop" Rhodes

Hephzibah, GA –Emmett “Pop” Rhodes, 76, went to meet his heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

Mr. Rhodes was born in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from Hephzibah High School in 1960. A member of Hephzibah United Methodist Church, Pop actively attended Blythe Baptist Church. A member of Hephzibah Mens’ Hen Peck Club and a past member of Hephzibah Farmers’ Club, Pop enjoyed fellowship with friends and family.

Family members include, sons: Emmett Rhodes, Jr. (Katy) of Appling; Dr. Steve Rhodes (Dr. Mychele) of Thomson; grandchildren: Hunter Rhodes, Susanna Rhodes, Emma Rhodes, and Reagan Rhodes; siblings: Dorothy Rhodes Oellerich of Augusta, Oscar Rhodes (Billie Ann), and Louise Rhodes Pettigrew both of Hephzibah. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Oscar D. Rhodes, Sr. and his mother, Mrs. Carrie Bell Rhodes, and his brother, Earl Rhodes.

A funeral service will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Dr. Charles Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Brothersville Cemetery in Hephzibah. Pallbearers will be Scott Martin, Spencer Ready, Greg Coursey, Stephen Barnhart, Michael Rhodes, and Robert Oellerich. Honorary Pallbearers: Charlie Burton, Bob McElmurray, Phillip Barnhart, Bobby Lowe, Wayne Guilfoyle, and Arvil Holt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Children’s Hospital of Georgia, 1446 Harper Street, Augusta, GA 30912.
