Augusta, GA – Erma Harrison Hearne, age 89, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Watkinsville, GA. Born November 30, 1921, Mrs. Hearne was the widow and devoted wife of sixty-three years to John M. Hearne, Jr., whom she married in 1947. She is survived by two daughters, Alice H. Jones and Janice H. Davison; son-in-law, Vincent M. Davison; grandchildren, Christy Davison Clarke, Melissa Anne Jones, Lindsey Davison Brandenburg and Marshall Casey Jones; great-grandchildren, William Mercer Brandenburg, Holden Johns Clarke and Piper McKenzie Jones; brother-in-law, Warren Davis; sisters-in law, Murray Hearne Stephens and Katherine Hearne Sangster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd M. Harrison and Ethel Granade Harrison; her brother, Dr. F.N. Harrison; and her sisters, Eleanor Harrison Davis and Elsie Harrison Martin. A native of Augusta, GA, Mrs. Hearne graduated from the University Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and retired from the Medical College of Georgia in 1986. She was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Roy McViegh officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill Building Fund, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904-4699.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
