Augusta, GA – Estelle R. Dicks passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 8, 2022.
Estelle was born on Telfair Street in Augusta on October 27, 1932 to the late Van and Marie Regopolos. She attended Houghton Elementary and Tubman School for Girls. It was during high school that she met James Dicks, the love of her life, though it would be later in life when they made their way back to each other.
Estelle was an active member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church where she was a past member of the vestry. She was a life-long Georgia Bulldog football fanatic, frequently telling people “I bleed black and red!” Estelle enjoyed traveling, and she and Jimmie took many exciting trips together the memories of which she loved to share with her family. She was a wonderful cook and true Southern hostess, who could most often be found in her kitchen preparing a meal for her family and friends that would later be enjoyed around a table full of love and laughter. You never left hungry and there was always the urging to eat, “just a little bit more,” and to take some home for later. She was proud to be known as “Momma” to all her children’s friends, and she treated them as her own.
In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Monroe Dicks. She is survived by her son: Scott Evans Story (Amy); her daughter and best friend: Staci Story Coleman (Ben) and Son: Bryant Dicks (Karen); her grandchildren: Ryan Coleman (Erin), Jon Manning Coleman (Erica), Andrew Dicks (Caroline) and Abigail Rondone (Joe); her Great-grandchildren: Skylar and Kassidy Coleman; and her brother: Art Regopolos.
The funeral service will be Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church with The Rev. Terri Degenhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pall Bearers will be Ryan Coleman, Jon Manning Coleman, Andrew Dicks, Joe Rondone, Anthony Lovett and George Economos.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Barry Tarpley and his staff Tangie and Essence, and the staff of Augusta Oncology, especially Dr. John Hudson, and Chelsea, Julie and Stephanie for taking such wonderful care of her. They were such a blessing to Estelle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 3321 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30909.
