Eugene Robert Bourdo

Grovetown, GA- Eugene Bourdo, faithful husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and caring friend, went home to be with the Lord who he loved dearly on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church. Viewing at 1:30 pm at the church. The Dr. Robert Lehn officiating. Private family interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.

Eugene was born October 24, 1931 in Plainwell, Michigan to Bessie and Emmett Bourdo. He graduated from Delton Kellogg High School, Delton, Michigan, and studied at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a gifted athlete with a love for baseball. He served in the U.S. Navy (Signal Division) for four years, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He enjoyed volunteer work (nursing home and Rescue Mission ministries), working in his yard, and was an avid sports fan and people person. Most important to him was spending time with his beloved family(he loved his grandchildren) and worshipping his Lord and Savior. His favorite scripture verse was II Timothy 1:12. His family cherishes the memories of his love and devotion.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Bessie Bourdo; brother Raymond Bourdo; brother Barton Bourdo.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy A. Bourdo of Grovetown, Georgia; sons Tim Bourdo and Jan of Evans, Georgia; Todd Bourdo and Joni of Appling, Georgia; daughters Judy Kersten and Jonathan of Marietta, Georgia; Lisa Taylor and Rodney of Hampton, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, Phillip, Jessica, Alli, Jenna, Tyler, Jarred, Tori, Jordan, Lauren & Ryan; sister, Maxine Shepard of Jackson, Michigan.
