Eunice Prescott McFeely entered into eternal rest on August 3rd, 2022, at the age of 91. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her memory.
Eunice was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert A. McFeely, parents Selma Jenkins Prescott and Eugene W. Prescott, sister June McGahee (Jack), niece Mary M. McCall, and son in law Chris Smith.
Eunice was born in 1930 and was raised on her parents' farm in Burke County. There, the family attended Habersham Methodist Church for many generations. She always held a special place in her heart for her many relatives in Burke County. After graduating from Waynesboro High School, she attended Georgia Southern College. After college, Eunice married Robert A. McFeely, and they remained married for 68 years. After her marriage she resided in Augusta, where she and her husband were founding member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church.
Eunice was a devoted and loving mother to her four children. She was a compassionate, kind, and wonderful woman. Her home was open to all and was always full of love and family. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She unconditionally loved her five grandchildren, and in return they all adored their "Nannie". Later in life she worked for the Augusta Chamber of Commerce and Conventions and Visitors Bureau. She enjoyed this work but when her first grandchild was born, she retired and joyfully embraced grandmother-hood.
Survivors include her son Gregory E. McFeely (Elaine) of Augusta, her daughters Julie M. Anson (Gary) of Prospect, KY, Jeannie M. Hightower (Tom) and Lynda M. Smith (the late Chris Smith), both of Augusta. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Leslie Dickerson (Adam), Christopher A. Smith Jr., Brooke M. Nickelson (Jimmy), Joseph B. Smith and Gregory Ryan McFeely, as well as one great grandson, Noah M. Nickelson; a very special niece/daughter, Laura M. Dent and 5 special great nieces and nephews, Daniel, David and Mary Kathleen McCall, and Matthew and Emma Dent. The family would like to thank Thrive Assisted Living and their staff for all the love and care they showed to her. The family also wishes to thank Mrs. Tonia Johnson for her love and care, they consider her "a God sent Angel" and a member of the family. Tonia and her ladies lovingly cared for Eunice's every need during the last years of her life.
She requests memorial contributions can be made to her grandson's trust, the Christopher Allan Smith, Jr. Special Needs Trust (312 High Chaparral Drive, Augusta, GA).
The memorial service will be held at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, on Saturday, August 13th, at 1pm. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the service.
