Evalyn Manley Bennett
Augusta, GA - Evalyn Manley Bennett, loving wife of 62 years to Brad Bennett, Jr., passed away on March 29, 2021.
Evalyn was born in Scranton, PA and moved to Atlanta, GA at an early age, where she graduated with highest honors from Christ The King Academy in Atlanta. She earned her B.A. degree from Marymount College at Tarrytown on Hudson, N.Y. where she graduated Suma Cum Laude. Evalyn is the daughter of the late Al and Kathryn Manley of Atlanta and was predeceased in death by her first child, Kathryn Bennett Close (Paul) of Charlotte, NC and her brother Dr. Frank Manley (Carolyn) of Atlanta, GA.
Survivors are her husband, Brad Bennett Jr, children, Carolyn Hudson (John) of Charlotte, NC, Brad Bennett III (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA and her grandchildren, Kate, Jack and Bennett Hudson of Charlotte, NC, Sophia, Brad IV and Beau Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Cliff Edahl, Jr (Meagan), Virginia Molen (Brendan), and great grandchildren, Margaret Edahl and Bradwell (Wells) Molen of Charlotte, NC.
Evalyn spent her married life as a loving and devoted wife while raising three wonderful children. She was a dedicated community volunteer where she was an officer of numerous organizations including past president of The Augusta Symphony Guild, Board Chair of The Symphony Cotillion, two- time President of The Wood Valley Garden Club, President of the Episcopal Day School PTA , member of the Board of Trustees for The Episcopal Day School, member of the Board of Trustees for The Augusta Preparatory School and a past President of The Council of Catholic Women. She was also an active member of The Augusta Country Club and The Augusta Heritage Club.
After her children left home for college, she became a realtor with Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate Company. She was a vice president, a life member of The Million Dollar/Masters Club and received the Top Salesperson award for the West Augusta office as well as The Augusta/North Augusta Board of Realtors several times.
Due to the Covid pandemic, there will be a private burial for immediate family members at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA with Fr. Mark Ross officiating.
