Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, December 24, 2011, Mrs. Florence Godbee Pearre, 92, wife for 55 years to the late Clinton “J.C.” Pearre.
Mrs. Pearre was a native of Burke Co. and resided in Augusta for most of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Tubman High School. Mrs. Pearre worked for the Georgia Railroad, the Georgia/Florida Railroad, and DeLaigle Construction before retiring. She was a member of Curtis Baptist Church and very active in the Happy 39rs Club, as well as, the Homebound and Bereavement Ministries. She was a member of the Fleming Homemakers Club, the Christian Women’s Club, and the Tubman Alumni Association.
Family members include daughters: Naida Smith (B.G.) of Sardis, GA, Jean Pearre of Augusta, Suzanne Hall (Ray) of Augusta; son: James “Jimmy” Pearre (Mary) of Augusta; grandchildren: Terry Smith, Eric Smith, Marcy Fleming, Jimmy Lister; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Sherrell Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Terry Smith, Eric Smith, Jimmy Lister, Mike Fleming, Jared Smith, and Elliott Cooper.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Curtis Baptist Church, 1326 Broad St., Augusta, GA 30901, or a charity of your choice.
