Augusta, Ga. - Florie G. Ligon, 95, departed this life Christmas Eve 12/24/20 to join her family with the Lord Jesus Christ. Florie was born in Batesburg, SC but moved to Augusta at a young age. She was retired from Commercial Credit Corp. (now Citi Corp.) after 35 years of service in Loan Administration.
She and her deceased husband Fred, were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Augusta for 45 years. A wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother she enjoyed planting and harvesting her garden, which resulted in excellent meals coming out of her kitchen.
Florie was preceded in death by her parents Ruth & Rion Gantt, her four sisters, Lois Seago, Vernell Qualman, Vickey Johnson, Adell Bodie and Fred her husband of 76 years. Survivors are two sons; Fred "Butch" H. Ligon III ( Tonya ), Ronnie A. Ligon ( Beth ); grandchildren, Ann Hatch (Jim), Stephanie Johnston (Wendell), Dr. Jennifer Ligon Sinkus (Jason), Dr.Allen Ligon ( Ashley); great grandchildren:Owen Johnston, Mary Oliff Johnston, Davis Hardy, Mary Alice Sinkus and Allen Ligon III. Extended family Stephen Holton, Alicia Howland, Mary Cason, Ansley & Raelynn.
A memorial service will be held at a later date when pandemic conditions improve. Interment will be private at Westover Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 106 SRP Drive Suite A, Evans, GA or First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way Ext. Augusta, GA.
