Floyd B. Kilgore

Blythe, GA – Floyd Benjamin Kilgore, 82, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Floyd was born in New York to the late Olin Benjamin and Algie Beatrice Kilgore on February 25, 1941. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life: Ulrike Nanni Kilgore whom he was married to for 62 years; his grandson: Michael Portwood and his sister: Algie O'Kelley. He is survived by his son: Mike Kilgore (Audrey); daughter: Sylvia Godbee(Frank); four grandchildren Bartley Portwood, Anise Bennett, Catlin Kilgore and Benjamin Kilgore; six great grandchildren: Wyatt, Layla, Lukas, Walker, Aleeah, and Alannah; sisters: Hazel Gutierrez (Al) and Carolyn Thompkins (Craig); nieces: Chris Holtz, Terri O'Kelley, Vanessa Painter; nephews: Craig and Bryan Thompkins and Brad Gutierrez.

Floyd joined the Air Force at an early age and was assigned to a base in Hahn Germany where he met his earthly angel Ulrike on a blind date. It is rumored she thought he was Elvis--he did have a guitar. They moved back to the states where they lived in NC, Florida and finally set up a permanent residence in Blythe, Ga. They were members of Blythe Baptist Church where they found salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Floyd's first job was with the US Air Force. He worked as a plumber, a master pipe fitter and general foreman at Georgia Power and SRS (Savannah River Site) . He loved watching his tomatoes flourish in his garden and the many trees and flowers he planted. These skills he learned growing up on a small farm in NC. He and his father would walk in the nearby woods where he developed his passion for hunting and fishing. Other than his Lord Jesus and his family he loved hunting the most. He managed to have multiple deer heads mounted at his home but was still on the lookout for a massive sixteen pointer. He firmly believed that one day it "would" be on his wall. He passed the love for hunting down to his son and grandsons. He loved sharing stores with his special son in law Frankie as they traveled the roads looking for deer sites.

The funeral service will be held Saturday March 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Blythe Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Caines officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

One of Floyd's final statements was "Open the gate" He touched the hearts of so many and will forever be missed.

THE LAST GATE HAS OPENED.
