Grovetown, GA- Entered into rest Friday, November 16, 2012, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga, Mrs. Frances DuCom Bowen, wife of William (Bill) H. Bowen, Jr. for 66 years. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Hunter officiating.
Frances spent her early years in Sumter, SC. After marrying Bill, they lived in Augusta for many years, returned to Sumter for several years, and recently resided in Grovetown, Ga. She was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. She retired from Serta Mattress Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward L. DuCom, Jr. and Gladys O. DuCom and a brother Edward (Bubba) L. DuCom III and wife Mary Alice (Midget), sisters-in-law Barbara DuCom, Donna DuCom, and Marguerite Hartney, and her son-in-law Carbon Stewart. Surviving relatives include her daughter Pauline Stewart, son Michael Bowen and wife Anne, and daughter Lynn Collins and husband Steve; five grandchildren Tamara Hunter and husband Tim, Matthew Stewart and wife Penelope, Mikell Stewart and wife Robin, Jenny Bowen, Kelly Purko and husband Peter; six great grandchildren Delaney, Mallory, and Clay Hunter, Kalli and Mattie Stewart, Alexander Justice (AJ) Stewart, and Mason and Jax Purko; sisters Helen DuCom Mahon and husband Robert (Bob), Madeleine DuCom Eisenman and husband Stan, and brothers David O. DuCom and wife Georgiana (Bunny), and Eugene E. DuCom. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
To Our Mama: Our hearts are broken and our tears are flowing. We can only think of what a great and loving mother you were. Through good times and bad times-we had plenty of both-you kept us strong and brought us through, time and time again. What strength and courage you had. Your faith and love for God was such an example for us all-that was a gift I wish the whole world could have (what a better place it would be). Mama, we love you so much-you know our hearts. Thank you for everything. You are so wonderful. We will see you later.
