Frank Guthrie

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, May 6, 2022. Mr. Frank Ellis Guthrie, 83, loving husband of Linda Guthrie for 42 years.

Frank was born in Chapman, Alabama and later moved to Augusta. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy and earned his BBA from the University of Georgia. He served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He, like his father, was an owner of Krispy Kreme. After retirement, he found a passion for geology and was an avid outdoorsman. Frank’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He also loved UGA football.

Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Sharon Bowles (Kevin), Walton Guthrie (Mischelle), and Brian Shepherd (Katie); grandchildren: Richard Bowles, Caroline Bowles, Ian Guthrie, Harlan Guthrie, Bennett Shepherd; sister-in-law: Dorothy Kruger (Brian); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: Frank D. Guthrie, Sr., Lerline E. Guthrie, and a son, Patrick Guthrie.

He often spoke of his love for his grandchildren and how proud he was of them.

Frank had many friends who loved him and he will be dearly missed.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Charles Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
