Dr. Frank McMillan

Augusta, Ga – Dr. Francis Marion “Frank” McMillan III, age 87, of Augusta, Ga., died on July 6, 2017. He was the son of Francis Marion McMillan II and Rebecca Harmon McMillan and was raised in Latta, SC. He was a graduate of Wofford College and earned his Masters from University of South Carolina. He then served in the US Army. Dr. McMillan earned his PhD from University of Georgia. He worked as a professor at the University of Alabama and then at University of Virginia. In 1970, he began teaching at Augusta College and became Director of Special Education, retiring in 1997. Frank was an accomplished amateur artist. He served on the Board of Directors for Lynndale School for over 37 years. Dr. McMillan loved family, friends, enjoyed music and was well read. Surviving family members include a number of cousins: Spence Wise, Shirley Kapituk and Honore’ LeClercq.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet and Son with The Reverend Lynn B. Prather officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Latta, SC.
