Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, December 25, 2020, Mr. Julian Franklin “Frankie” Davis, Jr. 77, husband to loyal wife of 56 years, Sylvia P. Davis; other family members include his son: Damon Davis (Lynn); daughter: Danielle Jones (Steve); grandchildren: Megan Kornegay, Mearia Bryant (Will), Madison Davis, Ivy Land, Brandon Howard (Crystal); great-grandchildren: Lillie Kornegay, Ella Davis, Noah Davis, Cora Bryant, Summer Cooper (Austin), Peyton Howard, Jaxon Howard; great-great grandson: Fletcher Cooper; brothers: George R. "Bob" Davis (Mary) and the late Watson Eugene Davis.

Born in Richmond County, GA., Mr. Davis graduated from Hephzibah High School in 1962. His favorite pastime was NASCAR, of which he held membership1960-61, enjoying competitive racing in the hobby class at the time. He retired from Ft. Gordon after 16 years of service with Johnson Controls, having received the Command Sergeant Major's Coin of Excellence Award and his name inscribed on a permanent scroll in the Signal Towers at Ft. Gordon, his proudest achievement. He enjoyed dabbling in horticulture, holding a Master Gardner certificate, was a Board member of the Richmond County Georgia Farm Bureau, and held a seat on the state board of the GFB Commodity Commission. He was also a member of the Hephzibah Agriculture Club, and former member of the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Mr. Ed Driver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Duffie, Skeeter McCorkle, Sid Mullis, Harold "Smitty" Smith, Alfred “Buddy” Gormley, Curtis Glass, Harold Fountain, and Bobby Townsend.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Georgia Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund:1620 Bass Rd, PO Box 7068, Macon, Ga 33209, or the Augusta - Richmond County 4H Club: 602 Greene St, Augusta, Ga 30901.
