Fred “Bubba” Climer
Augusta, GA – Mr. Fred “Bubba” Climer, entered into rest Thursday, September 12, 2013 at University Hospital.
Mr. Climer was born in Dyersburg, TN, the son of the late Chester Climer and the late Agnes Climer. He was a veteran and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Start medal, National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, and many other decorations, medals and badges. He began his career as a sales manager at Walker Ford and later became a new car automobile dealer in Fort Worth, TX. After returning to Augusta, he founded Southern Mortgage Lending Group where he worked until he became ill. Mr. Climer was a member of West Lake Country Club for the past 29 years and was an avid golfer. He was also a former member of the Georgia Association of Mortgage Brokers and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years: Brenda Climer; daughter: Cicely Climer and her fiancé Charles Fernandes; sons: Mark Climer (Tammy), Sean Climer; mother-in-law: Ann Boatwright; sisters-in-law: Emily Naughtin, Frances Paschal; grandchildren: Mason Fernandes, Savannah Fernandes, Noah Climer, Tessa Climer; and several nieces. He is also survived by his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Shorty. He is preceded in death by his sister: Betty McMillan.
The family will have a private interment at a later date.
