Fred Toomey

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 29, 2018, Mr. Fred Patrick Toomey, 65, loving husband of the late Cassandra Toomey.

Mr. Toomey was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a 1971 graduate of Aquinas High School where he was a star basketball player. He worked in local industry, and was employed as an industrial mechanic for years at the Lily Cup Company before being sidelined by disability. He was a member of the Morris Museum of Art and reveled in the events around town displaying local artists. He studied Augusta History, and liked to visit the landmarks, buildings, and people to discuss the rich history of the town. He enjoyed sports, and followed the Atlanta Braves in their yearly pursuit of success. He had a passion for music, and could often be found listening to the Beatles. He was gregarious with a quick smile, and he will be missed by his friends and family.

Family members include his sister: Sarah Byne (Hal); brother: Steve Toomey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helene Toomey.

The family would like to thank the staff of National Health Care for all their love and care.
