Fred L. (Rick) Wood III

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Frederick L. “Rick” Wood III, 81, loving husband of Janice Kay Wood.

Frederick was a lifelong resident of Augusta, and graduate of Aquinas High School. Following his graduation, and a two-year tour in the Navy, Rick began his career in Broadcasting, first with Radio and eventually advancing to Television, from which he retired. He coached for many years in the Augusta City Little League, and was also an avid supporter, and volunteer, of the Aquinas High School Boosters. He loved Georgia Tech Football and making his famous pimiento cheese for family and friends.

Family members in addition to his wife, are his sons, Tony Wood (Michelle), and Mike Wood (Kelly); grandchildren, Greta Wood and Jack Wood; and sister, Margaret Wood Graves (Jim). He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. Wood, Jr. and Theresa Chapman Wood; brother, John C. Wood and Barbara W. Rogers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Deacon Jim McDermott officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 until the time of the service.
