EVANS, GA - Frederick Jarvie Macfee died on September 23 at Brandon Wilde, one day short of his 99th birthday. He is survived by three sons, Fred, of Florida, Kim, of Nevada, and Michael, of Augusta, His family also includes 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He spent his career in the automotive parts business rising to the rank of CEO of Heavy Duty Parts, Inc, a division of Bandag. He was a pioneer in forging parts distribution partnerships between manufacturers and distributors, growing the NAPA brand.
He and his wife Marjory moved to Augusta to live at Brandon Wilde in 2004, after several years in Atlanta, GA. During his retired years, both in Atlanta and Augusta, he was an active volunteer with SCORE, serving as Georgia state chairmen for several years, as well as consulting directly with small business owners. He also was avtive in the Georgia State Golf Association, serving as handicap chairman.
As the only son of a Scottish immigrant, Robert Macfee, Fred truly became the clan chief of his 26-member family.
