Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, October 30, 2017, Mr. Herbert Eugene Durst, 84, loving husband of Mary Becknell Durst.
Mr. Durst was born and raised in Augusta. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War from 1950 – 1954 aboard the USS Carnesse and the USS Higbee. He retired as supervisor with Navastar Inc. He was a member of Lake Park Baptist Church.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include sons: Terry Lee Durst, Jerry Duane Durst; daughter: Vicky Lynn Durst Conley; five step children and numerous grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Mamie and George Durst; sons: Bryan Eugene Durst, Richard Keith Durst; and his first wife of 47 years Helen Pitzer Durst.
A graveside service will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, OH. and the family will receive friends in the chapel at 10:00 a.m.
