Augusta, GA – Gene L. Lewis, 70, of Augusta, Georgia died Monday, November 23rd, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

The 4th of 10 children, he was born in 1945 to Lehmon and Avis Lewis in Tattnall County, Georgia. Gene married his loving bride in March of 1970 and was a dedicated husband and father. Mr. Lewis began a successful career with Georgia Power and continued working with Southern Company for 38 years. He then became a managing partner of MGPM LLC for 10 years from which he recently retired. Gene had a joking nature and was very much loved and respected by his peers, both personal and professional.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Alyce Jones Lewis, son Matthew H. Lewis of Augusta, GA, daughter Alison Moulton (Ryan) of North Augusta, SC and grandson Eli Moulton; brothers: Enman Lewis (Jeanan) of Jesup, Raymond Lewis (Brenda) of Claxton; sisters: Joyce Norman (Joe) of Glennville, Maxine Cox (John) of Hinesville, Geraldine Harn of Claxton, Reba Smith (Danny) of Claxton, and Doris Jones (Donny) of Claxton; sister-in-law: Sally Tanner (Charles) of Claxton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen and Emory Lewis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the foyer of the chapel.
