Mr. George Kemp
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Trinity Hospital, Mr. George Albert Kemp, 71, husband for 49 years to Cecilia Hidalgo Kemp.
Mr. Kemp was born in Milledgeville, GA and was a lifelong resident of Augusta. After a prolonged illness, he now rests in peace in the Lord’s arms. Mr. Kemp was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist. He graduated from Mercer University School of Pharmacy in 1958, and was Assistant Director of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Georgia for 30 years. Mr. Kemp also owned and operated Kemp’s Drug Store in Atlanta. He was dedicated to his family who were most important to him. He was an avid golfer, and friends loved him because of his honesty and sense of humor.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include son Michael A. Kemp (Heather) of Atlanta; daughters Suzanne Kemp Channell (Jim) of Augusta, Debbie Kemp Holliday (Andy) of Evans; seven grandchildren: Anne Channell, Cecilia Kemp, Abigail Kemp, Ellie Kemp, Isabel Holliday, Jessica Holliday, and Christian Holliday; and brother Douglas Kemp. Mr. Kemp was predeceased by his brother Donald Kemp.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Lubinsky as celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
