Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, July 15, 2013, Mrs. George-Ann Penton Babbitt, 80, loving wife of Earl LeRoy Babbitt, Jr.

Mrs. Babbitt was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and was a graduate of Evans High School. She retired after 40 years in the Richmond County School System. She was artistic and creative and enjoyed entertaining as a puppeteer. Mrs. Babbitt was active in girl scouts and boy scouts and was the “epitome” of a volunteer mom. She was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and was active in conservation and youth activites. Mrs. Babbitt was a writer and a poet. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother.

Family members in addition to her husband include son: the late Earl L. Babbitt, III and wife Stephanie; daughter: Lisa Babbitt Anderson and husband Warren; grandchildren: Jessica Anderson Evans, Kaitlin Nicole Anderson, Kelsey Marie Anderson; great grandchildren: Edward Timothy Evans, Allison Nevaeh Evans; sister: Mary Graczyk; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by five of her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Private burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, 239 Turpentine Creek Lane, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. 72632.
