Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, March 10, 2012, Mr. George Herbert Sleister, 81, husband of Mrs. Grace Sleister.
Mr. Sleister was a native and long time resident of Columbia County. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sleister retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company in 1992 after 42 years of service. He was an active and long time member of Abilene Baptist Church.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Cheryl Messick (John) and Kathy Owen; grandchildren: Mary Grace and Anna Messick, Chandler and Rebekah Owen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Sleister was preceded in death by his parents: Ambrose and Jenola Sleister; brothers: Dupree, Gus, Joseph, Reuben and Jasper; sisters: Willie Partridge, Jeanette Milford and Frances Beattie; and son- in -law Robert Owen.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Abilene Baptist Church with Rev. William Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6:30 until 9:00 P.M.
